Frequently asked questions

Who can be treated?

Everyone! Julia has extensive experience working with individuals of all ages but has a particular interest in working with children and adolescents. Bowen and Acupuncture can be combined or used separately; for those who are needle phobic but want to access the benefits of Chinese Medicine, Julia can use other techniques to ‘stimulate’ the acupuncture points. Just talk to Julia about any thoughts or concerns you might have.

Each treatment is tailored personally for the individual and their presentation. It is therefore a fully bespoke service, supporting your health naturally.

What can be treated?

Below are some examples of presentations seen in clinic, however many individuals chose to access treatment to support their general wellbeing and underlying health.
The overarching intention of treatment is to support the body to return to a healthy, balanced state, whether that be physically, hormonally, systemically or emotionally.

  • Typical musculoskeletal-skeletal/pain-based conditions have included osteoarthritis, sciatica, back, neck and shoulder pain/ restriction. Knee, ankle and foot pain.
  • Additional pain-related presentations have included migraines, tension headaches and fibromyalgia.
  • Hormonal presentations have included those related to menstruation and menopause eg painful periods, hot flushes, and brain fog.
  • Digestive and urinary issues have included IBS, constipation, reflux, infections and incontinence.
  • Dermatological conditions eg eczema, psoriasis
  • Mental health eg anxiety, PTSD
  • Disordered sleep/insomnia

At the first appointment, Julia will explore your health history to gain further understanding of your treatment needs.

Will my insurer help with paying for treatment?

Increasingly, many health policies and plans will contribute towards the cost of Acupuncture and Bowen treatments. A registered acupuncture provider with AXA and Aviva , you must still check with your provider directly to understand the level of financial support available to you.
